Three Card Poker

A casino favourite

The object of this fast-moving game is to achieve a Three Card Poker hand higher than that of the Dealer. Unlike other Poker games, you’re not competing against other Players, just the Dealer.

There are three types of bet in this game:

  • Ante and Play - you’re betting your hand will be of a higher poker ranking than the Dealer's hand.
  • Pair Plus® - this is an additional bet that your hand will contain a pair or better. This is paid regardless of the Dealer’s hand at the appropriate odds (even money to 35-1)
  • Prime - a side bet that your hand will be all the same colour. If the Dealer’s hand is also the same colour, it increases the odds paid out to you.

You place your Ante and Pair Plus bets before the cards are dealt. You may then also decide if you wish to play a Prime bet.

Then once the cards have been dealt, you can review your hand and decide if you think it’s likely to be a higher rank than the dealers. To stay in the game, you add a Play bet, equal to your Ante bet.

Once the Play bets have been placed, the Dealer then reveals their hand. The game continues if the Dealer’s hand contains a Queen or higher. You win even money on both Ante and Play bets if your hand is higher than the Dealer's.

  • If your Ante bet has a straight or better, then you’ll receive an Ante Bonus, regardless of the value of the Dealer's hand.
  • If the Dealer’s hand doesn’t contain a Queen or higher, then you will win even money on your Ante bet and the Play bet will be a stand-off.
  • If the Dealer has the higher poker hand, your Ante and Play will both lose.
  • In Three Card Poker a straight has a higher ranking than a flush, which is not the case in 5 card poker.
  • When players have stopped viewing their cards they normally place these under their ‘Play’ bet.
